Happy anniversary once again!

Met the boy last Friday to celebrate our anniversary and I can finally say that I've tried Just Acia!

We ordered creamy chicken & salmon teriyaki pasta + chawanmushi to share and I'd wish that the salmon fillet was a thicker slice. Overall, I think that the teriyaki and cream sauce don't really go well together. Its still a good meal with BunnyBoi anyway! :)

Air purifier & ionizer

I've recently purchased an air purifier $14.80 (left) and an ionizer $34.80 (right) from Qoo10, previously known as Gmarket Singapore during their time sale + $3.90 Qexpress delivery.

I would say that this is the fastest experience in Qoo10 that I've ever received! The item came 2 days after I've ordered and it was delivered on a Saturday noon.

The smaller one was bigger than I'd expected and I used that for my room while the bigger one with ionizer that's known to trap heat I've placed it in my grandma's room!

The good thing about this purchase is it is affordable and definitely cheaper than those sold in the malls, but the downside would be that it's quite noisy as you can hear the motor sound churning when the switch is on. Oh and another redundant point is that the ionizer has a blue LED light that doesn't switch off until you off the main power, which makes sleeping at night harder due to the loud motor sound and the blue light.

Overall, I'd say it's a good buy though what you pay, is what you get :)

Hopefully the ionizer will work as shown in the video as the haze these days are getting higher:

You can find other items and aromatherapy oils from the seller here :

Penny University

The boy brought us to Penny University for a late brunch yesterday and it was really accessible by taking bus 10 from Tampines! We alighted just after Caltex and it's within 10-15mins walking distance to Katong 112.

Here's what we ordered: eggs benedict with smoked salmon and smoked chicken breast sandwich to share.

I wasn't a big fan of eggs benedict as I didn't like that the yolk oozes out onto the food, one which the boy loves much more than I do. However, I like that the bread that came together with this set was easy to cut into, as the previous one which we had at Eggs & Berries weren't.

The smoked chicken breast sandwich was tasty too as well however the toast was slightly over-toasted(?) and it was kinda un-glam and I had a hard time trying to cut it.

Both dishes would definitely be better if they served it with more cherry tomatoes as only 1 were given.

We also ordered iced chocolate due to some reviews and it was actually milk with chocolate fudge. Tastes alright though I will definitely order the coffee drinks on our next visit!

Passionfruit meringue tart

Dessert was passionfruit meringue tart and the boy said that it was much better than the lemon tart! The crust was really thick and crunchy and the underneath the cream was the passionfruit filling that is sour and sweet at the same time.

We went walking around Katong 112 and Parkway Parade and watched Non Stop after that starring Niam Neeson and the plot is about the air marshall receiving a threat saying to remit U$150m else he has to race against time to save the lives of each passenger every 20 mins.

Thank you for planning this date out and never giving up on me. I love you honey! <3

Lunch deal @ Nihon Mura

Went Nihon Mura for lunch at Tampines swimming complex today and all I can say is....

It's really value for money!! :))

We ordered chicken teriyaki rice and salmon teriyaki rice for myself. For sides we had chocolate eclairs, salmon sashimi, cream puffs, mochi and agedashi tofu. Oh and it's much better if you ordered their cold drinks as it comes in a can! Really super worth it cause 1 can of drink from the coffeeshop is already $1.50 haha.

However the downside would be that they serve the desserts together with the mains. So by the time we finished our rice, the desserts were semi-melted.

Oh and I like that their rice is served in the stone pot! There's some harden rice that tastes great too.

Wouldn't mind coming here again for the lunch deal again next month!

Thai Express

Had Thai Express for dinner last night and we ordered the set meal which is value for money!

There's another dish where it's roasted chicken but the soup served is winter melon. Hence, we didn't order that as you can get winter melon soup from those Chinese soup stalls like 老火汤.

We ordered both the green curry (not in picture) and the tamarind fish set.

For the tamarind fish set, the soup was supposed to be seafood Tomyam but apparently all we found were mushrooms lolol.

The soup is too spicy for our liking and for the fish, only 2 pieces were served. I liked how the sweet sauce complimented the fried fish but it would've been better if maybe an additional piece is provided though their rice portion is just nice for 1 person.

New Udon Mookata ; Golden Mile

Ended work on the dot today and went to have Mookata aka Thai steamboat with my colleagues at New Udon Thai, Golden Mile. It's very easy to locate it as its on the 1st level.

It's my first time trying out Mookata and I can finally say that I've tried how Thai steamboat is like! It's really different from our normal BBQ/steamboat as the soup and BBQ area is much smaller as compared to the Chinese style of BBQ steamboat.

For us girls, we shared a set of chicken only and what you see here costs us $45/set!!

It's quite on the expensive and unworthy side I must say as I don't think the plate of meat, bowl of vegetables, 2 eggs and tang hoon is worth $45... More like $25 haha.

However, the positive part of this meal is that I love how the chicken is marinated and it tastes really sweet! Don't forget to eat your rice with some of their sweet and spicy chilli provided free flow.

Other than that.. Unless you're a small eater and don't mind paying alot, you can give this place a try. Otherwise, I'm sure there are other mookata places which serves affordable prices and provides more meat and vegetables.

One year & 3 months

Finally had a proper date with 🐰BunnyBoi today! :))

Watched R.I.P.D and we both found the movie to be okay-okay & we headed to Vanilla Bar & Cafe for the third time! The food there is really delicious!

He bought the deal online priced at S$19.90 for a 5 course meal : Soup/salad, appetizer, main course, drink, dessert. It's really worth it! The food tastes good, and the price is even better! :)

Carrot soup for him & salad for her. The carrot soup tasted sweet and sour with a tinge of spice in it whereas the salad seems fresh and I really liked the sesame dressing!

Breaded shrimps with tobiko mayo or otherwise known as ebi tempura. I especially liked that the crumbs were crispy and each bite into it is with a crunch!

For him: Wild Mushroom Risotto with chicken. Tried a few spoonfuls of it and boy... I'm not a big fan of risottos due to the stickiness of the rice but this dish won me over! The mushroom cream sauce is really tasty and its not very creamy that you'd stop eating after a few mouthfuls.

For her: Parmesan baked white fish with sautéed potatoes. 2 words: Very niceeeeeeeeeee. I think they used dory fish, as the meat is soft and tender, accompanying it is the layer of Parmesan cheese which just melts into your mouth everytime! It seems like the cheese is only a thin layer but the taste in your mouth is overpowering but in a good, tasty way. :)

Time for desserts! Their very own "dirt cake" which is actually Vanilla ice cream with crushed Oreos.

Overall we enjoyed our monthsary dinner! I wouldn't mind coming here over and over again as their food is above expectations and being a small cafe, we were able to dine with some privacy provided they didn't have alot of guests. Their service were commendable too! Their staffs were warm and friendly and efficient in clearing the table for you after each course.

Vanilla Bar & Cafe is located at 3 Boon Tat Street.

Dad's pre-birthday dinner @ Old Hong Kong Taste Restaurant

Was looking for dining deals online and I chanced upon this restaurant deal on Groupon!

For S$24.80/pax, we got a yin-yang steamboat buffet with complimentary 1 serving each of beef slices, fresh oysters and prawns! I didn't manage to take a picture of the ala-carte steamboat buffet menu as well as the other dishes as my fingers were already busy peeling off prawn shells. But the picture above, credits to Groupon shows basically what we had!

The main star of our dinner was...

FRESH OYSTERS!!! It was a serving meant for 7pax, though I didn't eat it as I'm not a fan of raw food.

The other ingredients also includes the usual fishballs, pork liver, tofu, fish slices, chicken fillets, crispy fish skin, vegetables.. Very what-you'd-eat-during-steamboat-kind.
Overall the service was acceptable as there were only 1 manager and about 5 crew members on the shop floor, with only about 6-7 tables being occupied. Had some difficulty getting their attention but 2 of their staffs deserved compliments!

1 was a lady staff with long hair, it's easy to spot as there's only 2 ladies in long hair, 1 the manager and the other the staff crew.

The staff crew was very understanding as we requested if they could keep our beef first as not everyone in my family takes beef and its not good to cook beef into the soup, so we'll only eat it last. Initially she said she couldn't do it but after hearing that the 2 elders doesn't take beef, she helped us keep in the fridge & even said "remember to take from me ah!" Haha! & she was also the only one who said goodbye to us when we left!

Next was the only cleaner lady as she was wearing a different uniform and she was really efficient in replacing a new plate for you. Though towards the end she cleared quite frequently, but being in the F&B service before I figured maybe she had to clear as much so that its easier to clean up after we left henceI'm fine with it. Thumbs up! :)

Ambience seems like those kind of Chinese ballroom restaurant and the outlet at Serangoon Gardens seems to be half empty when we got there and left.
Picture credits to Groupon again :)

For our soup bases, we had the Spicy SzeChuan & the normal soup. We all preferred the normal one to the spicy soup as its really super spicy and very, very oilyyyyyyyy. Haha.

Not very worth it to go during non-sale period as I think other places are cheaper and have more varieties plus fruits as well. But for the oysters, and the amount we paid for this dinner.....

I'd say that it's money well spent! ^^v

Old Hong Kong Taste Restaurant is located at 1 Maju Avenue, #02-01, Singapore 556679.

It's after Chomp Chomp! Very easy to spot as its the only shopping mall there. Above Udders ice cream / Bakerzin!

They have parking inside the mall and complimentary Valet parking service for you. But of course... Nothing comes free! Tipping applies! :)

My first purchase from Étude House!

I stumbled across some random bloggers stating that the Baking Powder range & Wonder Pore Freshner from Etude House is pretty good and affordable hence I've decided to give it a try to further improve on my facial condition! I have very sensitive skin and oily at the T-zone but dry on other areas.

Hence I've decided to swing by Parkway Parade during lunch and got myself these!

From top left: AC Clinic Daily Gel Lotion S$20.90 for 150ml, Wonder Pore Freshner S$16.90 for 250ml, Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist S$16.90 for 150ml.

On top of that, the kind salesgirl gave me some samples too! Magic bubble O2 water peeling pack, I'm Blooming special care kit, 1x Pearl Extract Mask and 2x Correct & Care (CC) cream!

I immediately used the main products during & after shower respectively and here's my verdict! (In order of use)

1. Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist S$16.90 for 150ml.

It says on the back that "baking powder is able to penetrate & cleanse deep within pores to remove makeup & residues. Maintains rich, smooth lather for moist sensation."

It smells very acid-y! Very, very strong and sour smell of lime and a point to note is.... Don't squeeze your normal pea-size amount out! I squeezed my normal pea-size and had a hard time getting the right consistency for the soap to be spread out. Shall half the amount and see how again tmr!

I didn't have much trouble washing it off, and I can feel like my face has brightened up a little (due to the thick coverage haha), though pores are still visibly seen. & it feels smooooth!! I didn't have any tingly sensation too! So yay! Oh and it's also cause I've read that for those with sensitive & dry skin like me, it's recommended to get the moist one instead of the normal or BB cream wash as shown below, and I've also included mine (the one in pink) to show the whole family of baking powder wash series for your reference :)

Next, would be the toner to see if the cleansing foam really did remove my sunblock and concealer. I don't use makeup because my skin doesn't adapt to it well and will break out easily.

2. Wonder Pore Freshner S$16.90 for 250ml.

I hope you're able to zoom into the 7 descriptions that they've claimed. However, I'm just gonna touch on some as I couldn't see the results on my first use.

I couldn't make out what the smell was. It smells fruity but towards the low-scent kind. It smelt like melon, but not really.....

My pores weren't minimized as its the first use today, however I'm kinda concerned now as all the reviewers claimed that its good, but I DID get tingly sensation when I wiped my face using a cotton pad. Initially i thought maybe i wiped it too fast/hard, hence I slowed down again.. But the tingling sensation appeared again around my cheeks area. Or could it be its cause my pores are around my cheeks hence they are trying to go deep into it? Am I the only one here who felt this way?

Good news though, it didn't last long, only during the time when I applied it! It could also be as I have sensitive skin. It varies among individuals. :)

Lastly, the lotion!

3. AC Clinic Daily Gel Lotion S$20.90 for 150ml.

This wasn't in my shopping list this noon, but I like to browse around the shelves if there are other options for me to try. And as this was voted by the Cosmopolitan magazine & also AC Clinic targets acne problemsI've decided to give it a shot!

I figured it smells like mint and those kind of aroma-therapy oils?

It comes with a glass bottle and its kinda hard to pour the liquid out as I was afraid it may be too much, & I'll probably have a harder time when the liquid is running low!

I applied it onto my palm directly and pressed it onto my face for a few seconds after the toner application. My face felt kinda red after but it's not painful at all.

As I'm typing these down, I can still smell the mints as the scent slowly fades off after 20mins+ & my face certainly felt smoother and bouncy when I pressed my finger against my cheek!

All in all, it's a great buy so far as the prices are really reasonable! I hope my face doesn't break out so quickly else my money is going down the drain!

One year, one month.

Met up with BunnyBoi yesterday despite the rocketing PSI readings & we headed over to Crystal Jade for late lunch as I read on Tammy's website that TM's outlet are having promotion for their dimsum so we went to check it outzzz.

Here's what we ordered!

Fried carrot cake - I like that the cake has a really nice after taste though the texture seems to be quite chewy for me.

Roasted pork dry noodles - omggg... Please don't order their dry noodles! I didn't quite like that their noodles tasted bitter and was hoping that they came with chilli like the usual dry noodles we eat at hawkers, but it came with thick gravy as shown.. I'm not sure if its oyster sauce gravy? Definitely not a to-order but on a tastier note, their roast pork is juicy, soft and crispy at the right places!

Clockwise from left : custard buns (was hoping more fillings could be stuffed in 3/4 of the time I was eating the bun instead), siew mai, steamed prawn dumplings and chive dumplings (all of which were tasty and sweet as their fillings were generous).

& finally... Aloe Vera with osmanthus & honey for dessert to cool ourselves down from the nasty haze these few days!

I really liked this dessert!! Am I the only one who thinks that aloe Vera is tasteless instead of bitter? I can't taste any bitterness in it even though he said its bitter!? I think it's easy to make this dessert too! Just add honey, osmanthus and aloe Vera and you're good to go! Shall try making it someday!

& after all that we've ordered, the bill came up to S$22.40! It's good to drop by during the promotion time from 2.30pm - 5pm, but I'm sure that elsewhere is cheaper, tastier and more dishes could be ordered!

Megagamie digi print skirt

I actually got this Megagamie skirt off the racks @ kissjane bugis junction months back but it was too loose on me, hence I sent it for alternation! However, to my dismay... The top part of the skirt that was supposed to be paper bag design was actually altered into a flat design! Means I can't put a belt over it to have the pleats showing anymore! NOOO!! D:
& the measurements didn't turn out to be the one I wanted as it sits snugly on my waist, so no heavy food intake when I'm in this skirt!

Material wise it's really worth the S$30.90 I paid for! It's quite thick though I can't figure out what material it is, but it's exactly the same texture as Love & Bravery's dress! Oh and not forgetting that there's a smooth inner lining sewed underneath the skirt as well! It's not flimsy and strong winds will definitely not enable you to do a Marilyn Monroe pose! Haha!

It seems like an unreleased piece too as I haven't seen any reviews and launches on this yet.

Exact prints & texture of skirt as seen on Love & Bravery's Surreal Dotted Print Dress.

Katong day!

Met BunnyBoi for our Katong date & we headed over to Katong 112 and look what we saw!!

$9.90 NETT SALMON SET LUNCH DEAL VALID ONLY @ KATONG 112 BRANCH!

It's really value for money! I'm going to drop by next week for lunch yay! :)))

Bought tickets to Fast 6 and we passed our time by having Chawanmushi at their food court beside the theatre. Priced at S$1.50 per portion, it's an additional 10% off for all Passion card members! It tasted nice too! Salty for my liking. Shall have it next time again after lunch.

After which, we headed over to With a Pinch Of Salt at Tanjong Katong for dinner. It's only 4 stops away from Katong 112 and the shop front is visible when you're on the bus.

Their interior is so cute! And I like that their tables have different colours.

We ordered squid ink pasta with beef & farmhouse platter to share.

It was my first time trying out squid ink pasta and I still prefer the standard pasta sauces though.

There's nothing special about the farmhouse platter as I felt that their fish bites (the one beside the nuggets) is overly fried. The top of my gums kinda hurt upon chewing it. Nuggets, 2pcs garlic crusted chicken wings, fries and sausages.

I didn't really enjoy this meal but as BunnyBoi has mentioned, we prolly ordered the wrong stuffs.

Service was acceptable as well considering they only had 3 staffs the man the whole place. Their manager even stopped by to ask if we enjoyed our meal. So thoughtful! :)

Met up with the rest @ Starbucks & we played Heads Up! It's a game whereby you'll place your phone on your forehead and everyone around you will describe what's been shown on the screen, which you then have to guess what it is. Oh and we downloaded Fun Run too! Its something like squirrels racing with each other to reach the finishing line with 4 players in the game. It's really fun & addictive! Haha!

Ending off with my outfit of yesterday!

Mizzy Corner Nasi Lemak

Mizzy Corner nasi lemak set A : S$3.50

It's been awhile since I last had nasi lemak and I've always wanted to have one but I'm worried that the rice wouldn't be fragrant enough as some of them uses white rice instead of the rice cooked in pandan leaves & coconut milk.

So ever since the renovation of Changi Village hawker, Mizzy corner has been shifted from their original stall to the previous "International Nasi Lemak" stall. And now, it's really at a corner! Haha!

My brother and I started eating at Mizzy corner as the queue at International was always long, hence we settled for Mizzy's. Thank god we had it at Mizzy's!! As of today, it seems like the queue at Mizzy's is longer than International's, and I heard alot of passerby's were commenting and pointing at Mizzy corner saying that "it's nice it's nice" while we were eating.

The rice was fragrant and when I had a bite of it, I was in heaven!!

The chicken wings were very crispy though I'm sure it didn't taste as great as the previous time as the wings didn't have their distinct fried chicken smell & taste which I love in all chicken wings! Like for Old Chang Kee's chicken wings, their taste and smell really matches your taste buds when you chew on it!

The ikan bilis tasted exactly the same, crispy and crunchy on every bite, but I really wished they could've given a little more ikan bilis cause.. *points to my plate * :'(

I'm not a fan of chili sauce so I gave about 3/4 of it to my brother, and it tastes sweet and mildly spicy at the same time for me.

This plate costs S$3.50 and if you want you can add on Otah, chicken wings etc for an additional of S$1.50! I'm not sure about the other add on ingredients though.

Nonetheless.. I've finally satisfied my craving of Changi Village's nasi lemak today! Yay! :)
