Kukup Road Trip ; 14-15 July 2013

Woke up early on a Saturday morning at 5.30am and we're off to the meeting point near Tuas to wait for the rest to arrive! The meeting time was supposed to be 7.30am but due to miscommunication via their emails, the latest to arrive was at 9am.... X.X

So while waiting for the rest to arrive...

We then drove of to 2nd link where it's faster without any jams and alighted near the ferry terminal point where transport is provided to ferry us to the ferry terminal for lunch!

After lunch we went to board the ferry to our house!

Walking for about 5-10mins as the ferry alighted us at a different place.

Woohoo!! Welcome to my house!

The hall.

KTV room.

We have a total of 3 of this bed in our room! Slept with my parents and BunnyBoi..... Hahaha ji awkward yi xiaaaa!

The common toilet.

Balcony @ 2nd level.

If only this is my house.......

Tea break: home made prawn fritters and green bean soup.

BBQ dinner is served! Woah, for about S$100 per pax, everything including accomodation, breakfast, lunch, tea break and dinner is served!

The people at the back BBQ-ing food for us.

Fresh prawns.

Jelly! It's really nice!

After dinner we went to set fire crackers & light wishes lantern for the first time!

After playing, we rested in the hall because I wanted to use wifi and alot of them saw us and walked away haha! Really felt as if the whole house is owned by us.

Breakfast! Char siew rice, nasi lemak, youtiao and soy milk. NICE NICE NICE.

After breakfast, we went for a mini kelong tour.

Bought organic bird nest and some ikan bilis from them for BunnyBoi's mum!

After which it's time to go!

The rest went for massage, so we went to walk around the mall and I finally got to change my phone cover! Brought my laptop around as I thought could watch movies for 2.5hrs but in the end we walked throughout the timeframe and BunnyBoi even got himself a pair of sandals! :)

Dinner at Yi Jia Restaurant where we had a 9 course meal inclusive of 2 different kinds of crabs. Didn't take pictures of dinner.

I enjoyed this short getaway and I'm looking forward to the next one with my family now that BunnyBoi's here! ^^

5th Day @ SOSD

I got to walk Peanut instead of Sharky yesterday as there were insufficient members, only 8 of us turned up and we weren't able to walk all 30dogs.

Peanut is easier to walk in my opinion! Initially I was worried if I would be able to do it but I took a deep breath and started singing happy songs in my mind. I could sense that she wasn't keen on walking with me but after awhile of "bonding session" at the carpark area, I felt that we are picking up things better. :)

A sign for my Instagram July Challenge!

Walking to the 2nd water break point @ Lor Halus.

Skippy, Peanut, (Butter) haha! Just kidding its Pam Pam!

SOSD's very own band of brothers!

We are the ones who have strayed

Ever since I've joined SOSD (Save Our Street Dogs), I'm beginning to be more aware of the stray dogs than I ever was. Spending every Tuesday's with them was short, yet sweet for me and I always want to stay back longer to spend more time with every one of them. But as I am not a regular, and strays are at an entirely different league as compared to domestic or even pedigree dogs, I didn't.

One needs to have an authoritative and confidence aurora in them as these dogs are extremely sensitive to a person's emotions and may react accordingly which requires the handler's calm mind and experience to handle it. Eg, I've learnt that it's not okay for dogs to jump up on you when they are happy as it could lead to them being rougher with you and could lead to aggression in future if not handled well. Would I have known of this fact when I have a Jack Russell of 14 years with me? No. I've learnt these all in the shelter.

Extracted from The Dog Behaviorist :
A pack leader is one that teaches dogs to obey by respecting and not obey out of fear. Excessive compulsion causes dogs to obey out of fear, but with a balance and communicating with them by body language will naturally cause them to obey out of respect.

To be a strong pack leader to dogs, You have to learn to be a leader yourself towards humans. There will never be such a thing as only a good leader to dogs.

A leader is one who respects their members first. Understanding the member and providing support to a member before themselves. A leader never looses their cool, but always remains calm but firm to put boundaries in place. A leader is one who is sincere and never longing for power. A leader is one who dares to admit to their mistakes. A leader is one who is able to listen without judgements.

Strays are really beautiful, and I can't express how much courage, dignity and respect they have for each other, dogs and humans alike, unlike domestic dogs as they are not born & bred in the wild. Still, sometimes when I look at my dog, Rex, I am thankful that he does understand what we meant and he knows of the Do's and Don'ts (with exceptions that he will defy sometimes). But one thing is for sure though : Dogs love us unconditionally, no matter their breed, size, or where they come from.

I hope this video inspiress everyone out there to change their views that strays are not dirty, dangerous and probably disgraceful. In fact, we are the ones instead. We are the ones who have strayed too far to even notice that we are nothing close to being selfless, compassionate & understand that this world does not only belong to us humans alone.

My first purchase from Étude House!

I stumbled across some random bloggers stating that the Baking Powder range & Wonder Pore Freshner from Etude House is pretty good and affordable hence I've decided to give it a try to further improve on my facial condition! I have very sensitive skin and oily at the T-zone but dry on other areas.

Hence I've decided to swing by Parkway Parade during lunch and got myself these!

From top left: AC Clinic Daily Gel Lotion S$20.90 for 150ml, Wonder Pore Freshner S$16.90 for 250ml, Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist S$16.90 for 150ml.

On top of that, the kind salesgirl gave me some samples too! Magic bubble O2 water peeling pack, I'm Blooming special care kit, 1x Pearl Extract Mask and 2x Correct & Care (CC) cream!

I immediately used the main products during & after shower respectively and here's my verdict! (In order of use)

1. Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist S$16.90 for 150ml.

It says on the back that "baking powder is able to penetrate & cleanse deep within pores to remove makeup & residues. Maintains rich, smooth lather for moist sensation."

It smells very acid-y! Very, very strong and sour smell of lime and a point to note is.... Don't squeeze your normal pea-size amount out! I squeezed my normal pea-size and had a hard time getting the right consistency for the soap to be spread out. Shall half the amount and see how again tmr!

I didn't have much trouble washing it off, and I can feel like my face has brightened up a little (due to the thick coverage haha), though pores are still visibly seen. & it feels smooooth!! I didn't have any tingly sensation too! So yay! Oh and it's also cause I've read that for those with sensitive & dry skin like me, it's recommended to get the moist one instead of the normal or BB cream wash as shown below, and I've also included mine (the one in pink) to show the whole family of baking powder wash series for your reference :)

Next, would be the toner to see if the cleansing foam really did remove my sunblock and concealer. I don't use makeup because my skin doesn't adapt to it well and will break out easily.

2. Wonder Pore Freshner S$16.90 for 250ml.

I hope you're able to zoom into the 7 descriptions that they've claimed. However, I'm just gonna touch on some as I couldn't see the results on my first use.

I couldn't make out what the smell was. It smells fruity but towards the low-scent kind. It smelt like melon, but not really.....

My pores weren't minimized as its the first use today, however I'm kinda concerned now as all the reviewers claimed that its good, but I DID get tingly sensation when I wiped my face using a cotton pad. Initially i thought maybe i wiped it too fast/hard, hence I slowed down again.. But the tingling sensation appeared again around my cheeks area. Or could it be its cause my pores are around my cheeks hence they are trying to go deep into it? Am I the only one here who felt this way?

Good news though, it didn't last long, only during the time when I applied it! It could also be as I have sensitive skin. It varies among individuals. :)

Lastly, the lotion!

3. AC Clinic Daily Gel Lotion S$20.90 for 150ml.

This wasn't in my shopping list this noon, but I like to browse around the shelves if there are other options for me to try. And as this was voted by the Cosmopolitan magazine & also AC Clinic targets acne problemsI've decided to give it a shot!

I figured it smells like mint and those kind of aroma-therapy oils?

It comes with a glass bottle and its kinda hard to pour the liquid out as I was afraid it may be too much, & I'll probably have a harder time when the liquid is running low!

I applied it onto my palm directly and pressed it onto my face for a few seconds after the toner application. My face felt kinda red after but it's not painful at all.

As I'm typing these down, I can still smell the mints as the scent slowly fades off after 20mins+ & my face certainly felt smoother and bouncy when I pressed my finger against my cheek!

All in all, it's a great buy so far as the prices are really reasonable! I hope my face doesn't break out so quickly else my money is going down the drain!
